This Waltz was composed in Caldas da Rainha in 1927, because the composer was resident in that city, having dedicated it to his daughter Alice, who only heard it once at the age of 72, when this arrangement was made.
With melodies and harmonies well structured for the style and being a Portuguese waltz, in it we find all the spirit that was imposed to the waltzes of the time, composed in Europe.
This piece was recovered from the original manuscript in the family´s possession.
António Carvalho was born in Santa Catarina, parish of the county of Caldas da Rainha, in 1901.
He was a military musician and reached the rank of Assistant Sergeant Musician.
He was distinguished several times for his exemplary conduct, as a military man and as a human being. Of these distinctions, the Silver Military Medal of the exemplary Behavior Class stands out.
He died in Portalegre, where he ruled the military band, in 1934.
