Originally written in 1928, it was intended for a Ballet. It is the most famous work of Ravel and for him considered an exercise of composition. Adelino Mota made a shorter version adapted to the band.
Some solos were suppressed. so we have a much shorter version. The shade was changed to one more frequently used in the bands and to place the soils in more accessible registers.
